My name is Ivan Lopez, and I am 21. I am from Colombia, but I have been living in USA from august of 2008. My frist object in USA is learn english as well as be possible becouse it is a request to get my university diploma, and also i like it. Besides study english i spend my time knowing new important and historic places in Boston, place where I am living for a while. Moreover, I have tried to have a fun time with my temporal english classmates who usually are from Asian countries and Colombia too.
I hope to get a good english skills as soon as be possible since I want to apply to an american university to do a master after finishing my undergradute studies in Colombia. although I know it is not going to be easy, I will do my best effort to achive this goals.
There are some funny stories that I have lived since I have been in Boston. Mainly at the begining was so funny becouse I did not know almost nothing as an english speaker, so I had a lot of shameful times trying to get a conversation with someone. Also when I was getting talks with chinese people was hard, but at the same time it was funny as they and me were learning at the same time. As a result our converstion time was not interesting; it just was a basic talks.
Finally, I can say that my english is really better than when I just arrived, but I hope it will be much better after finish this season studying the ESL course in UMASS Boston again.
Hi Ivan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great post! It's great to hear that you like to study English just for the fun of it in addition to reaching your life goals. Do you like history? There are so many wonderful historical places in Boston. You should go see the Shaw Memorial and the Holocaust Memorial. They are both very easy to walk to from Park Street Station. I would like to hear your funny stories about learning English. I have a very funny story about my mother and father trying to speak Portuguese. Remind me, and I'll tell the class sometime! Anyway, I know your English will continue to improve!
Thank's for your comment and your suggestions. Let me tell you that I already was in the Holocaust Memorial, it was a great place, but I haven't been in the Shaw Memorial. I'm going to try to go as soon as be possible. I hope ( but i'm almost sure) this class will be great and interesting. I will try to do my best effort!.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! All you can do is to give your best effort. So you have already been to the Holocaust Memorial? I think it is one of the most beautiful monuments that I have ever seen. I have to keep myself from crying every time I go through it. It is very powerful. I think you will like the Shaw Memorial too. Perhaps I will have a chance to talk a little bit more about Shaw in class.
